Job Description:

Fern Marketing (T) Limited is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health and Safety Officer to ensure the workplace is safe, compliant with regulations, and that all employees are protected from health hazards. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies and practices to ensure a safe and secure work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Health and Safety Management
   • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
   • Monitor and review workplace safety risks and conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
   • Ensure all safety measures and equipment are in place, accessible, and in good working condition.
2. Training and Awareness
   • Conduct health and safety training for all employees, including new hires, to ensure they are aware of safety protocols and procedures.
   • Organize regular drills and emergency response exercises to ensure preparedness for any safety incidents.
   • Advise employees on proper use of protective equipment and safe work practices.
3. Incident and Accident Investigation
   • Investigate accidents, incidents, or near-misses and compile detailed reports.
   • Identify the root causes of incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
   • Maintain accident records and ensure compliance with reporting requirements for local authorities.
4. Compliance and Documentation
   • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
   • Maintain up-to-date safety records, logs, and documentation for audits, inspections, and reporting.
   • Liaise with external agencies to ensure compliance with legal safety requirements.
5. Safety Inspections and Audits
   • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of company facilities, machinery, and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
   • Recommend improvements or corrective actions based on findings during inspections and audits.
   • Follow up on corrective measures to ensure implementation and effectiveness.
6. Emergency Preparedness
   • Develop and implement emergency response plans for various scenarios, including fire, chemical spills, natural disasters, and workplace accidents.
   • Ensure emergency exits are properly marked and that evacuation routes are clear and accessible at all times.
   • Provide first aid and emergency medical assistance when necessary.
7. Health and Safety Compliance for Events and Projects
   • As a Health and Safety Officer at FERN Marketing Limited, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all company events, projects, and activities fully adhere to Health and Safety (H&S) regulations and best practices. This includes conducting thorough risk assessments, identifying potential hazards, and implementing measures to mitigate risks during the planning and execution phases of each event or project.
   • You will work closely with the team to ensure that all events, whether internal or client-facing, are conducted in a safe environment, with proper safety protocols in place. This involves overseeing safety briefings, ensuring compliance with relevant H&S legislation, and ensuring that all staff, contractors, and attendees are informed of and adhere to safety guidelines. Regular monitoring and reporting will be required to ensure continuous compliance and to proactively address any safety concerns before they arise.
   • Provide first aid and emergency medical assistance when necessary.
8. Health and Safety Management and Reporting
   • A critical part of your role will be reporting on health and safety matters. You will maintain accurate records of all safety audits, incident reports, and risk assessments, ensuring that all issues are documented and addressed promptly. You will regularly report on safety performance to senior management, highlighting any potential risks or areas of improvement, and suggesting corrective actions where necessary. Your reports will contribute to the continuous improvement of safety procedures and practices across the company.
   • By ensuring comprehensive H&S compliance and effective reporting, you will support FERN Marketing Limited in creating a safe and secure working environment for all.
9.   Health and Safety Planning and Proposal Preparation
   • As a Health and Safety Officer at FERN Marketing Limited, a key responsibility will be preparing detailed Health and Safety proposals for all events and projects. You will work closely with project managers and event coordinators to ensure that safety protocols are integrated into the planning stages of each project or event.
   • Your role will involve conducting risk assessments, identifying potential hazards, and formulating safety strategies and measures that align with industry standards and regulations. You will prepare clear, comprehensive Health and Safety proposals that outline the specific requirements and safety procedures for each event or project, including emergency response plans, required safety equipment, and staff responsibilities.
   • Additionally, you will collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the feasibility and implementation of proposed safety measures, making adjustments where necessary to maintain the highest levels of safety and compliance.
   • By preparing these proposals, you will help to ensure that all events and projects are executed safely, minimizing risks and ensuring the wellbeing of all participants, staff, and contractors involved

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent certification).
• Experience: Previous experience (typically 2+ years) in a health and safety role, preferably in Health Industry.
• Certifications: Health and Safety certification (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is highly desirable.
• Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with staff and management.
  • Ability to perform risk assessments and propose effective solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
